This is a simple sketch I started a little while ago and finally finished. I didn’t take a whole lot of progression photos, because it wasn’t particularly complicated. I had taken a quick picture of my dog’s paws hanging over the edge of the couch because I thought it was so cute, and the lighting was nice. Hope you enjoy!
The first photo (I forgot to get a shot with just the outlines):
I started out using just a 4H pencil but decided that would be too light, so I ended up working with a 2HB. Honestly, it wasn’t as dark as I would have liked, but I didn’t have any darker pencils and didn’t feel like getting into charcoal with this one.
At the end I was just darkening some spots and adding shadows. I tried to indicate some lighter areas—the sun was coming in through the window at the time the reference photo was taken.
